Think on this: God heals. That’s it, the powerful truth of God’s love is that He saves and He heals. It doesn’t matter how much of this cold and flu stuff is going around, or how much coughing and aching a person feels, the truth of the fact is still that God is the healer.
Let’s get one thing straight: prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines do not heal; they “treat” symptoms. In other words, they help you to feel better while your body heals but its God Almighty who actually does the healing.
Now before you jump off the wagon here with your thoughts of “if God heals, then why doesn’t He just heal everyone”? We need to understand that it takes both God and us for us to get healed. It takes His power and it takes us receiving it by faith. Anything and everything we receive from God is done by us believing in Him. He is the provider and we are the recipient. And if we are not “taking His medicine –the Word of God” as often as we are taking prescription medicines then we will soon lack in our faith strength to believe Him for our healing. It’s that simple.
We are in a real battle here; the devil wants us sick, wants to destroy us and wants us to grow weary in our faith. As one of those, who is now on a second round of prescriptions for this congestion and a cough that makes me sound like a train in a tunnel, I say I will not give in or give up; I keep my faith in the Lord Jesus who has purchased my healing with the stripes on His back. We must not back down just because its gets hard to stand strong in and with our faith in God. We must stay true to the One who saves us and heals us-Jesus, our Savior, Healer, and Lord.
We must keep our faith strong by reading what the Bible says about God providing healing for us. And, we must apply His Word to our lives by confessing His Word over our lives, speaking His truth into our body to receive the healing that He has provided for us. So to help us, here are a few of my favorite Scriptures:
Jeremiah 30:17 For I will restore health unto you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says the Lord.
Isaiah 53:3 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
Psalm 103:1-3 Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits; who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases.
Psalm 107:20 He sent His Word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
1 Peter 2:24 Who himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness – by whose stripes you were healed.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14 And the word was made flesh, and dwelt among us (the only begotten of the Father).
Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
Matthew 4:24, 12:15, Luke 4:40, 6:17, and 6:19 All these Scriptures and many others refer to the fact that Jesus healed all the sick.
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever.
When we’ve spoken His Word over us, calling the healing and good health into our body, then we stand strong believing He will perform His Word. (Romans 4:17)
